Swimming Against the Tide
In 2017 I was injured training for the London marathon. Running for me was the activity that ensured I took care of my mental health. When this was removed, it resulted in a decline in my mental state.
This project represents the journey I took in search of mental and physical recovery. This is presented through the images I have taken using photography as a therapy.
During the process of diagnosis and treatment, I took walks which held therapeutic value. Many of these walks took place at the coast which became the focus of my imagery due to the connotations water holds. The peaks and troughs, highs and lows, rough and calm reflects the pattern of my mental health problems.
