Here are images from a documentary project called ‘Enterprising Croydon’ that portrays fourteen unique Croydon shops and their enterprising proprietors. Graham has utilised, photography, video and interview to gain an insight into what it takes to be enterprisingly attractive in a challenging time for the British High Street. Their varied backgrounds and nationality reflecting the diverse multi-ethnic mix of the Croydon community. Their varied business range from traditional eels, pie and mash through Ghanaian dressmaking to an innovation hub and café. All are on or close to the retail road that Croydon has grown from. Images have been carefully framed to show something of the proprietors’ personality as well as their very distinctive workplaces.
